No one seems to care much about him at all. Hell, no one you run into really seems to react to the fact that Prince Noctis is declared dead. And I think itвЂ™s a pity the effect of Noctis having to do such down to earth missions and work is never addressed in game. But everytime he takes another sidequest, heвЂ™s helping out people and hisВ вЂsubjectsвЂ™ more and more becoming what we could call a King of the common people. On one hand, every time he powers up by finding a royal weapon or a summon heвЂ™s becoming a little more distant, a little more Godlike and unreachable. But even so, I think we can still read the sidequest portion of the game as Noctis developing the relation between King and subject. ItвЂ™s a pity the sidequest sections of the game ignore the over-arching plot so much, in that they rarely allude to the empire, or even the destruction of Insomnia, or the death of King Regis. Addition, the lack of anyone recognizing him really supports that idea that heвЂ™s not one who really rubs shoulders with his people an awful lot. So itвЂ™s heavily implied that Noctis has basically never done that kind of thing before. The game is so long itвЂ™s easy to forget, but near the beginning they basically get forced into doing hunts because Cid takes one look at them, realizes Noctis is spoiled shitless, and decides to get him roughed up a little. I found it interesting that throughout the game Noctis is becoming essentially superpowered, moving away from being a King to being a God-King, while simultaneous becoming more down to earth then he ever would have been in Crown City.
